I have done it two ways. When I first started playing the game and didn’t have any money, I would just spam the 20 gold treats. I tried to increase familiarity by just feeding them mostly what they loved, while also increasing some of their other stats. Inevitably, with the cheap treats, this led to a veritable fuckton of time spent between 3 and 4 hearts.

Each familiar also has a favorite type of treat (determined by their genus—see the profiles in the “ Familiar Genuses ” section above), and when you feed it that treat, pink hearts will rise over its head and it will emit a happy squeal that reflects the double familiarity bonus it receives.
